Not so long ago the trend of wearing lingerie as outwear was on the top of it's popularity. Today, according to the 2020 runways it is back and strikes bright!
We've seen Kardashians wearing lingerie as outwear on a daily basis: bras as tops, nightgowns as dresses. Dolce&Gabbana is famous with their lace-trimmed silky dresses and many others too.
What have we learnt form 2020 runways? Corsets should be worn over! not under your clothes and lace-trimmed silky dresses are born for the street. An early adopter of the lingerie as daywear trend this season was Vera Wang. Her goth-tinged collection, which she presented in New York in September, featured several layered bias-cut slip dresses and sheer bustiers worn loose and unfastened over structured pieces.
In Milan, Ermanno Scervino sent delicate, décolletage-diving nighties down the catwalk with leopard-print blazers. Then,Dolce&Gabbana dug into its archive to recreate a series of sheer black separates that wouldn't look out of place at a red carpet or in the bedroom.
Gucci also looked to its kinky past for its latest line. Alessandro Michele instead of his expected covered-up quirk, pulled a Tom Ford and served sexed-up ensembles: think lace-inset slip dresses with high slits and panty-revealing chiffon skirts.
And there it is: plenty of runway proof that you should wear your lacy tenderness or leather corset to lunch.
